According to reports, the next actor to play James Bond has been chosen. A source has told The Sun newspaper that “the formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back". This news comes after years of speculation about who would play the iconic role after Daniel Craig hung up his suit.
The actor poised to take on the role is believed to be Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known for his performances in Kickass and Avengers: Age of Ultron. More recently, Taylor-Johnson has appeared in Bullet Train and Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, which takes place in the Spider-Man universe.
Daniel Craig was the last actor to play James Bond starring in five films.
Sky News reports that the production company, Eon, are currently at work on a script for the next James Bond film, though there are no firm dates in place for filming to begin production. The Sun’s source also said, “As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Taylor-Johnson was recently asked about the role, and rumours linking him to the part, in an interview with Numero magazine where he said, “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment." It seems as if those rumours may have been pretty concrete.
If this latest news is true, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will become the seventh actor to portray the British spy who was made famous by the performances of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. All we can do now is wait until a formal announcement is made, which will hopefully follow in the coming weeks.
Many actors had been linked to the part until now including Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, and Henry Cavill, all of whom had a wealth of experience they could bring to the role.
