Someone has found a video of Henry Cavill’s James Bond audition on “a VHS Tape found in a recycling Bin at a Movie Studio” and uploaded it on YouTube for all to see, and now fans are pondering what could have been if Cavill had got the role back in 2006.
A YouTube account going by the name of “Ron South” has, somehow, managed to get its hands on a bunch of pre-Casino Royale audition tapes, including ones for Avatar's Sam Worthington, Obi-Wan Kenobi's Rupert Friend, The Boys' Anthony Starr and, yes, even Henry Cavill himself.
Most of the comments on the video are relatively positive, with a few even upset that he didn’t get the role back in 2005.

“I'm impressed, considering how young he was then,” commented user @ginawhite7228, “Now, he'd nail it.”
“You can tell he is nervous but he is still light years better than the other 3,” replied user @rccottrell, “Without the nerves and some lines not written for Pierce Brosnan he could be great.”
Cavill has been a bit of a constant fan cast for the role of James Bond over the years, but during the time of his audition here he would have only been roughly 21 years old (given that the audition is for the role of Casino Royale).
Personally, I think he looks super stiff, but that’s audition tapes for you. The pressure of auditioning for the role of a character like James Bond, while you’re surrounded by the producers that will ultimately decide your fate, has got to be a pretty daunting process.

Plus, he’s undoubtedly grown as an actor over the years. While I don’t think his performance here is incredibly commanding, his role in 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. proves that he could tackle a role like this now.
