Ever since The Legend of Zelda film was announced, my heart has been troubled. I’m not even the biggest Zelda fan, but I can’t help but think that no matter who you cast, it just won’t work out.
In the past few days, the live-action Legend of Zelda film got a release date set for 26 March 2027 and fans are wondering who will be cast to play Link and Zelda.
I hope the Zelda film is just an adaptation of Wind Waker
One fan, over on Twitter, thinks that a certain actress is perfect for the role of the princess, and I fully back it.

In the tweet, they say, “They literally have one job and it’s to get Hunter Schafer to play Zelda. PLEASE.”
This was a fan-casting choice a few months ago, and as soon as I saw the idea, it’s all I can think of.
Hunter Schafer has even been asked about the opportunity on red carpets around the world as she opens film premieres.
“That’s actually the perfect casting, they better do it,” echoes another Twitter user.

Of course, there are small-minded bigots who can’t seem to see a trans woman playing such an iconic princess, but let’s ignore them, shall we?
She has the look, definitely has the range - her acting has been stellar since breaking out on Euphoria - and it would be an exciting role.
“This is literally Zelda. Wdym?” said another fan.
If they are going to make this film, then Schafer would be a superb pick.

I’ve got 50 words left in this news article, and I’m going to use them to say how much I’m dreading this film.
If it was to be animated, then I could maybe get behind it, but after literal decades of seeing these characters drawn and animated, I can’t imagine the live-action casting being satisfying. I hope to be surprised.
