I still can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that a Harry Potter TV show is on the way.
Certainly, I understand that reboots are all the rage, but rebooting what is arguably the biggest film franchise of all-time that continues to dominate the popular consciousness?
That simply doesn’t make sense.

When you think of Harry Potter, you picture Daniel Radcliffe. When you think of, say, The Daily Prophet, it’s MinaLima’s iconic graphic design that springs to mind.
From the architecture of Hogwarts Castle to the onscreen design of Voldemort, everything is just so … recognisable.
I can’t imagine a TV reboot coming along and bettering that. Maybe in 20 years, sure, but now?
Maybe I’ll be proven wrong but let’s not forget that so too is the TV show blighted by JK Rowling’s ever-unfolding controversy.

An open casting call has been put out for the three leads - Harry, Hermione, and Ron - welcoming in new, young actors.
As for the adult characters though, fans have singled out who they think would make a perfect Dumbledore.
ICYMI: Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is out now. The game is free for PlayStation Plus subscribers to download this month.
Harry Potter fans will know Gary Oldman as Sirius Black but at last weekend’s Emmy Awards, the actor suggested that he may be ready to assume the role of a different Wizarding World character.

When asked by IndieWire if he was involved in the upcoming TV reboot, Oldman said, “No one’s approached me about that.”
Perhaps more excitingly though, he added, “I’m always [up for it]. Being Sirius Black? I loved Sirius. He wasn’t in it enough. He turned up, and then he went through the Veil. I will bet my money that they will get a whole new cast of people in.”
“Maybe in a few years I can do Dumbledore,” he concluded.
That’s a casting that fans would love to see.

“That’s a great idea,” wrote one social media user, while another added, “WHAAAT!? Gary Oldman as Dumbledore? Sign. Me. Up. This would be epic casting.”
With the casting search just now getting underway, I’m imagining it’s going to be quite some time until we get any confirmation on who’s playing who.
