Harry Potter Casts MCU Star As Our New Voldemort

Avada Kedavra

After a bit of a lull following the spectacular conclusion of the film series, things are ramping up again for the Harry Potter franchise, with a brand new series from HBO currently going through principal photography. That's not the only new piece of media tied to the original books however, with a new audiobook series set to start releasing in November.

As part of that, the audiobook producers have confirmed several of those set to feature, including Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, with the actress also appearing as the same character in the upcoming television series.

This precedent could lay the groundwork for other voice actors from the audiobook to make the jump across to the television format. The most obvious candidate comes in the form of MCU star Matthew Macfadyen, who will be taking over as Lord Voldemort in the audio version.

With a proven track record in some huge hits, including Pride & Prejudice and Deadpool & Wolverine, Macfadyen undoubtedly remains a big potential coup for the show. With Voldemort serving as one of the last major characters in the HBO show without an attached name, the stage could be set for Macfadyen's latest star turn.

His nefarious appearance as Tom Wambsgans in smash-hit Succession will have done little to deter fans from seeing him appear in Harry Potter, despite the obvious differences in physical appearance.

Other confirmed actors for the HBO series include John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid and HBO stalwart Anton Lesser as Ollivander, with the latter most well-known for his work as the necromancer Qyburn in Game of Thrones.

Unfortunately, fans still have a significant wait before they can judge just how good the series is, with the full show not set to release until an as-yet unspecified date in early 2027.
