Excitement is steadily building for the new HBO adaptation of Harry Potter, which will bring the iconic stories to TV.
Over the past few weeks, casting news has started to come out of the studio, with actors decided for Dumbledore, Snape, and Professor McGonangall. However, so far, there’s no news on Harry Potter himself.
Harry Potter will be coming to HBO in a brand-new adaptation
Fans over on Reddit are wondering “when will the ‘golden trio’ be announced?” And if there’s one resounding response, it’s concern over the actors who will take on these characters.

“Most likely last to protect them as long as possible,” says ThatGirl8709, in the top reply.
It’s likely we’ll get word on official casting sometime later in the Spring, perhaps into the Summer. It’s likely the kids have already been cast, but information is locked down.
Children and teenagers are constantly scrutinised by the media, and everything about them will be micromanaged and picked apart.
We saw it with the original trio, and many of those films were shot before social media took over the world as it has now.

“Hopefully not until the filming starts. These three are going to get hounded by media and fans,” said Ashkir, in response.
Another Redditor adding their concern, saying, “Hope they're doing everything they can to help adjust these kids.”
Whoever steps into these roles will be taking on not only a monumental project, due to the franchise’s popularity, but also a long-running project.
The kids in the trio will be signing over their lives, and likenesses, for at least the next decade, probably longer.

Desperate_Ad_9219 spells it out simply, “If they have them they are most likely preparing them for what this fanbase is like. And hate to break it to you guys not a very nice fan base.”
They continue, “Good luck to these kids.”
