It has been over a decade since millions of us flocked to the cinema to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.
Now years later and the hype for Harry Potter is showing no signs of slowing down, especially after the news that Warner Bros. and HBO would be coming together to turn the former book and film series into a television show.

Despite confirmation that it is indeed happening and the news that casting had begun for the main cast, there is not much else we know about the television adaptation.

However, despite the project still being in early development, fans are hyped and a recent comment by Warner Bros. Television Group CEO Channing Dungey has brought some optimism.
Speaking at New Year Comic-Con recently, Dungey said:
“There’s not a lot to talk about at this moment,” Dungey shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’ve got our fantastic writing staff in place and they are doing what they need to do. And casting calls have opened up in the U.K. and Ireland, so the process is moving along. It’s going quite well.

Although this is by no means a groundbreaking revelation, his further comments shared a bit more light on the studio’s plans for the Harry Potter TV show.
“It’s an unbelievable dream, honestly, and as somebody who is a huge fan of books, the opportunity to get to explore them in maybe a little bit more in-depth than you can in just a two-hour film, that’s the whole reason we’re on this journey.”
Adapting a much-loved book series to the big screen is never an easy task, but the Harry Potter film franchise was received with critical acclaim.
With some fans thinking the story should now be left alone, others are eager for more and an in-depth television show could be the answer to that.

However, it remains to be seen which actors will be stepping into those very big roles and if continuing the franchise was the right choice after all.
