It seems as though 2024 is the year of Lara Croft and alongside official anime and video games, it appears the iconic character is also getting the fan treatment with this jaw-dropping new project.

Despite Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft first bursting onto the scene way back in 1996, her popularity is by no means wavering with 2024 being the year we welcome a Tomb Raider-inspired anime as well as updates on the upcoming video game title.

With 11 main game instalments and a plethora of spin-offs, movies, shows and books, Tomb Raider has become a household name so it is no wonder that fans are getting in on the action.

Created by Youtuber Lorenzo_CGI, this latest fan project consists of a teaser tribute to Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and features Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft and Christoph Waltz as Mr Von Croy.

Created using Unreal Engine, this 2-minute teaser trailer consists of some jaw-dropping visuals and is even more impressive considering its creator did not use any AI of Deepfake technology.

Instead they used assets from Megascan as well as incorporating Unreal Engine 5’s Metahuman to create the character models, Texturing XYZ for textures and hair taken from the 3D scan store.

The trailer is presented with a fake game menu as well as giving us a glimpse of the first meeting between Lara and Mr Von Croy. Despite being such a short trailer, it packs a punch and has left fans wanting more.

“That's it! That's what I want to see! This is exactly the Lara that remained in my heart after the films with Angelina Jolie. Thank you for your hard work and the real Lara,” one comment read.

Another said: “I'm in love! You're making me long for a fully CGI, cinematic Last Revelation movie now. Holy cow, that's some gorgeous work, and I really liked your creative choices that meant no additional dialogue was necessary – just the models, the set up, the music, and that one single, iconic line.”
