According to CD Projekt RED themselves, you won’t be getting your hands on The Witcher 4 until at least 2027– and fans are, surprisingly, alright with that.
This news comes by way of PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk, who was paying close attention to CD Projekt RED’s “Group FY 2024 earnings conference” last night.
During a segment of the earnings conference, reference was made to the “consolidated net profit goals of the motivational program to align top managers goals with the CD Projekt group objectives”.

That’s a bunch of boardroom chat that roughly translates to “you wanna make some money and we’re trying to do that.”
However, this was followed up by something a bit more straightforward: “Even though we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still driven by this financial goal."
CD Projekt’s CFO Piotr Nielubowicz then stated that “the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026."
Basically, they were roughly aiming for late 2026, but now they reckon The Witcher 4 will drop sometime in 2027.

In a thread reacting to the news over on the r/witcher subreddit, almost every single comment is levelheaded, reasonable, and downright supportive of the delay.
"Fine by me," commented user HussingtonHat, "Take your time lads."
"Only people who are in a hurry are the investors," replied user Ch33sm4st3r, "And I hope they learned from Cyberpunk so that this game won’t be rushed."
Perhaps this should be unsurprising, given the state that Cyberpunk 2077 launched in.

CD Projekt RED were hamstrung by the targets their investors placed on them during its development and was forced to push the game out the door earlier than they should have, so it’s only natural that fans don’t want The Witcher 4 to suffer the same fate.
Here’s hoping that said investors won’t get antsy and do the same thing again if a 2027 release doesn’t seem feasible either.
