Last night, The Sims 5 was revealed in Maxis and Electronic Arts' The Sims Summit event. Currently at a "very early" point in its development, the game promises to "innovate in entirely new ways," and that includes a multiplayer mode.
Multiplayer? In my Sims game? Get on your bike. I have been far too annoying to far too many people to feel safe allowing them to meddle in my Sims' lives. And, these are my children. This is like my House of the Dragon, but without all the weird stuff, obviously. I will not let my dynasty fall.
Electronic Arts commended the creativity of the Sims community, with their storytelling capabilities and eye-popping builds. Check out this incredibly satisfying Dunder Mifflin offices recreation here!
Codenamed Project Rene, the prototype showed off how much the player is able to customise the world that their characters live in. The bed, for example, is editable to change the bedspread colour and pattern and the design and shape of the footboard independently. In addition, the colour wheel of The Sims 3 is back to customise furniture patterns, and you're even able to place cushions on a sofa and angle them for the maximum (simulated) comfort.

"The Sims has always evolved to reflect our players and their experiences, and we are building on that foundation to encourage creativity and the ability to tell meaningful stories," announced the team. "This is just a first glimpse of what the team is working on, and we will continue to share more information on the game’s development and milestones along the way."
And, in case you missed it, The Sims 4 is now free to play across all platforms. If you already own the game, you are able to claim the Desert Luxe Kit through the game's main menu for free - . Additionally, there are "celebration rewards" to be found in The Sims 4, The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile, like "a variety of tattoos to adorn your Sims, and a special Plumbob ceiling fan."
