Well, this is awkward. Turns out we were officially told when The Elder Scrolls VI is gonna come out years ago, and I guess we all just collectively forgot. Hope you’re not looking forward to playing this game at any point in the next couple of years…
Over on the r/TESVI subreddit, one user has remembered something slightly upsetting; Microsoft told us Bethesda won’t be releasing it for at least another five years… in 2023.
If you’re doing the maths in your head, that means we won’t get our hands on The Elder Scrolls VI until 2028– and that’s the earliest.

This news comes from the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, who stated as much during Microsoft’s FTC trial back in 2023 (per IGN).
"As I said with Elder Scrolls 6, it’s so far out it’s hard to understand what the platforms will even be at this point. It’s the same team that’s finishing Starfield, which comes out this September,” Spencer revealed.
“So we’re talking about it being likely five-plus years away."
Naturally, the folks over on the r/TESVI thread are being super levelheaded about the whole thing.

“Every time I bring this up i get downvoted to s**t. We've been told 2028 at the earliest and have known this for years now people need to chill,” commented user Two_Hump_Wonder.
“I'd be surprised if we hear anything until 2026 or maybe even 2027.”
“It's crazy how half the people in this thread are still believing it's closer than 2028 even when Phil Spencer himself says it isn't,” replied user yolomcswagsty.
To be fair, I wouldn’t say Spencer’s comments are based on an exact science or anything. He definitely has more info than we do regarding TES VI’s progress, but game development isn’t a hard and fast thing. Bethesda could have made way more progress since 2023.

Alright, yeah, I’m coping. See you in 2030.
