The Elder Scrolls 6 is technically playable, but there is a catch

Will we die before it’s released?

The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time but yet, we still know very little about the Bethesda fantasy RPG.

Quite unbelievably, The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018 and still, we haven't seen any gameplay, story details, what platforms it will be released on or when it will even be released. It’s why some gamers fear that the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series will either be released as a next-gen title or we’ll die before it arrives (perhaps both).

Check out The Elder Scrolls VI reveal trailer below!

This year, The Elder Scrolls series celebrated its 30th anniversary with its first game, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, released in 1994 for MS-DOS systems. Since that time, the series has gone from strength to strength, with its last mainline entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launching in 2011 and remaining as popular as ever to this very day.

In a post shared on Reddit by ZIR0-, surprisingly The Elder Scrolls VI was mentioned in a 30th anniversary celebratory post from Bethesda, revealing that it’s actually playable right now. Unfortunately, there is a catch and that’s it’s a very early build and presumably only playable for a select few with it being in very early production.

A line in the post reads when referring to The Elder Scrolls VI, “Returning to Tamriel and playing early builds, has us filled with the same joy, excitement and promise of adventure”. So if you wanted to get your mitts on The Elder Scrolls VI, the major catch is that you might have to get a job at Bethesda ASAP and get cosy with those close to production.

The Elder Scrolls VI will be released whenever Bethesda deems it ready, hopefully on current systems but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath waiting for its arrival. I suppose in the meantime, the likes of Skyrim and Elden Ring can keep us busy, at least.
