Striking Distance Studios has announced that The Callisto Protocol will receive a season pass that will add a bevy of content to the game, including very, very sticky ends for the hero.
I'm a fan of horror, and especially horror games, yet there's some trepidation that I have over The Callisto Protocol. Will found himself floored by the brutality of the monsters and the deaths that the protagonist will endure. "Even the easiest grunts take almost an entire pistol clip to go down. I learn this the hard way as one gorges on the main character, Jacob’s, intestines," recalled our senior social editor. Well, at least this is good experience should a flesh eating virus infect the world's populace at any point in the next few years. Who you gonna call? Will.

The game has been banned in Japan owing to the severity of the gore and from the sounds of it, the developer isn't satisfied with showing you just a small selection of ways that Jacob's insides can become his outsides. The Deluxe Edition of the game comes with a season pass, containing goodies like new story details, new skins for the hero and two new modes called Contagion and Riot.

Contagion will test the mettle of the most hardened survivors with reduced ammo and health drops, customisable difficulty and permadeath. On the other hand, Riot is a wave mode where Jacob must battle the onslaught of enemies for as long as he can in a newly unlocked part of the prison. As well as this, the modes add 25 new death animations - 13 in Contagion and 12 in Riot. How delightful. The Callisto Protocol comes out on 2 December for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
