Stranger Things season four, huh? I think it’s safe to say that there are still plenty of fans out there who haven’t emotionally recovered from that finale. Dear ol’ Eddie Munson quickly cemented himself as a fan-favourite character in the most recent episodes, and people were heartbroken to see him killed off during the standoff against Vecna. By a horde of demobats, at that.
Whether it’s due to denial, the urge to generate fan theories, or something else entirely, many weren’t willing to accept that he’s gone. Some believe that since the demobats weren’t able to kill Steve, the Hellfire Club leader is also fine and dandy. It’s also been theorised that Vecna could end up using his body as a vessel of sorts (since he kind of needs a new one after the brutal attack on him at the end of the last episode), so even though Eddie himself might be dead, he could still make a return, of sorts.

Now, as reported by UNILAD, with the title of season five’s first episode officially revealed, fans are already wondering if this could be hinting at Eddie’s return. Titled 'The Crawl’, it’s apparent that this could point to many, many things. It could be referring to a Dungeon & Dragons dungeon crawl, or it could simply mean that someone is crawling out of somewhere (perhaps the Upside Down, hint hint?). Both of these options could easily tie into Eddie. It’s been pointed out that there may even be some relation to the ‘Master of Puppets’ lyric “come crawling faster” - the song he played in his final blaze of glory before being attacked.
Obviously, right now this is pure speculation. Stranger Things’ fifth season can’t come soon enough.
