Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately (not Dwayne Johnson), then you would know that Baldur’s Gate III is already proving to be one of the biggest video game releases this year.
We’re not just talking about the estimated 200 hours to finish the Baldur’s Gate III campaign or the apparent 17,000 possible endings, but instead its incredible reception from both fans and critics alike.
Check out the Baldur's Gate III launch trailer below!
Baldur’s Gate III has garnered very impressive scores of 9.2 from fans and 95 from critics on the aggregate website, Metacritic. At the moment, Baldur’s Gate III is only available on PC, but when it arrives on PS5 next month, could it end up being one of the most successful games in years? Only time will tell. Baldur’s Gate III is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, but due to technical limitations of the Series S, it has suffered a massive delay.

Aside from review scores, how else is Baldur’s Gate III shaping up? Well, according to Steam and SteamDB, very well indeed. The RPG from Larian Studios is sitting firmly on top of Steam’s ‘Top Sellers’ list, taking over the almighty Counter-Strike: Global Offensive aka CSGO.
What’s more, it is not only the top trending game on the Steam platform but has an incredible and somewhat cursed 814,666 concurrent players with 576, 635 gamers playing Baldur’s Gate III right now.
However, it’s still got some way to totally topple CSGO, because the ever-popular competitive multiplayer shooter has a 24-hour peak of 1,203, 266 and a massive all-time peak of 1,818, 773. It will be interesting to see if Baldur’s Gate III can not only break that one million barrier on PC but also maintain those numbers in the months to come.
Baldur’s Gate III is out now on PC and arrives for PlayStation 5 on 6 September 2023, which just so happens to be the same release date as Starfield.
