It’s that time of the week when we take a look at some of the brilliant games you could be playing right now on Steam. We’ve got nine games to explore and all of them are available for free. All you need to play these is a free Steam account.
First up is Skyclimbers, a multiplayer city-building RPG that takes place in a procedurally generated universe inspired by anime visuals. You’ll be able to choose your RPG class to play as and create a new city from the ground up.
Many of these games work great on your Steam Deck
Omega Crafter is a new survival game that gives you a programmable robot to help you with building, fighting, and material gathering. You’re able to use basic programming language to activate tasks for Grammi. If you want a PvP puzzler, look no further than Backpack Battles, which has you organising a hero’s backpack to deal damage to your opponent.

Shapez 2 is a factory-building sim that allows you to build sprawling, automated factories that are pleasing to the eye and the brain. Can you optimise the best factory? If deckbuilding is more your speed, why not try out Balatro which is getting a lot of positive word-of-mouth on the run up to its release. Imagine Poker mixed with Slay the Spire and you’re on track.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a delightful city builder mixed in with traditional JRPG tropes. You don’t need to have played the first game to enjoy this charming adventure. Next up is a roguelike brawler where you control a stickman who kicks, punches and slams his way through crowds, in Stick It to the Stickman.
Kill It With Fire 2 carries on the ludicrous action of the first game asking you to kill spiders in the most imaginative way possible. Not for the arachnophobes. Lastl, we have Helskate, a roguelike skateboarding action game. Yep, lots of words that shouldn’t work together, but most definitely do. Chain combo tricks to slay monsters. Sounds rad.
