It’s not long until Bethesda’s massive and highly anticipated sci-fi RPG arrives with Starfield on PC and Xbox.
As the hype builds leading up to its release, fans will want to get ready to jump into action when the latest Bethesda RPG is finally available to play. So what’s the best way that we can prepare to begin our galaxy adventuring amongst the stars? Firstly, it might be wise to book some days off work, assuming that you haven't done that already.
Secondly, you can download the game right now, so that you’re good to go at launch. By visiting Starfield via the Xbox marketplace on your Xbox Series X|S console, you can choose to download the game right now. However, you may have to clear up some storage space in doing so.

As reported by Pure Xbox, now that Starfield is available to download ahead of its launch, we also know how big the installation will be. According to the Microsoft Store Page, Starfield looks to demand at least 125GB of storage, which will surely be a strain on the small 512GB storage capacity of the Xbox Series S. That being said, the storage requirement isn't as demanding as the Call of Duty series or even Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda's parent company, ZeniMax Media, it means that titles such as Starfield, and perhaps even The Elder Scrolls VI will be Xbox console exclusives. As such, gamers aren't happy. At the time of writing, a Starfield petition to bring the sci-fi RPG to PlayStation 5 has garnered over 3,000 signatures, at the time of writing.
Salt was especially rubbed into the wounds of disgruntled PlayStation fans when it was revealed during the recent FTC court case that aims to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, that Starfield was nearly a PS5 exclusive. That was until Microsoft had enough of Sony’s shenanigans and purchased ZeniMax Media outright.
Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
