Starfield fans in love with 'legitimately great' new update

Starfield fans in love with 'legitimately great' new update

Xbox users rejoice; Bethesda finally added a feature to Starfield that you've been begging for since launch

Bethesda’s looting and shooting space adventure Starfield hasn’t exactly had much in the way of praise since it came out back in 2023, but its latest update seems to have finally earned the game some positive feedback from the fanbase.

The “November Update” went live across all platforms last night, and it has added a wealth of new content to the game (alongside a bunch of bug fixes). For a full list of all the additions and fixes, check out the press release for the update on Bethesda’s site.

One of the biggest changes is the reintroduction of an uncapped framerate option for Xbox Series X users which, for some undefined reason, was previously removed from Starfield not long after it launched.

Plus, there’s even a brand-new, holiday-appropriate quest for players to sink their teeth into - “The Perfect Recipe”.

The quest description in the press release states that “The Perfect Recipe invites you on a heartwarming journey through Akila City, where the past and present collide in the hands of an unlikely dreamer” and the new quest will introduce players to “Harbhajan, a gifted mechanic with a hidden passion for the culinary arts.”

The thing most players seem excited about is the addition of “achievement friendly creations”, which will now allow certain pre-approved creations to be used without disabling the ability to earn any achievements.

Over on the r/xbox subreddit in a thread detailing the update, players discussed which additions they were most excited about.

“Creations that don’t disable achievements is a huge W imo” commented user schmidtyb43.

“Uncapped for SeriesX and creations with achievements are big wins” agreed user phemom.

Perhaps now that Starfield is in a semi-decent state, a few of the developers working on these updates might be able to help out with some of Bethesda’s other games. You know, like that Elder Scrolls 6 game everyone keeps banging on about.
