With a new year fast approaching, gamers are turning their attention to what games will be filling up their backlog in 2024. One to add to the list is an open-world game that combines Skyrim and Valheim to create a medieval RPG.
Bellwright is an upcoming medieval strategy RPG by developers Donkey Crew. Set for release in Q1 of 2024, the open-world title will task you with establishing and building your own settlements, liberating the land and its villagers and recruiting like-minded people to your cause. As the head of your forces, you will “prove your valor through combat and cement yourself as the hero of your people”.
Check out the Bellwright trailer below!
“Framed for the murder of the Prince and sentenced to death by the Crown, you've been living in the shadows ever since,” reads the official Steam synopsis. “After barely dodging an attempt on your life, you find the assassin's contract that raises many questions - was it just misfortune that you were framed? Or is there more to it? Determined to find the answers, you journey back to the very place you escaped.

Slowly but surely, you will lead a rebellion against your homeland's oppressive Sovereign to victory, uncovering the truth of your family's secret along the way. The bells shall ring for freedom once again!”
Bellwright will see you gather, hunt and craft resources in a world where survival is key but be aware that the Crown is not the only enemy of the lands. As the leader of the people, you will start as the mere head of a camp but your legion will soon grow and you will gain followers with unique knowledge along the way.
Last but not least, the town is yours to manage and you will need to oversee everything from resources, upgrades, recruitment and training. When you are not overseeing your people, you will be defeating foes in skill-based directional combat but don’t worry, you’re not alone as you will have an army to command.
Bellright combines the medieval world of Skyrim and the resource management of Valheim to create an epic open-world adventure coming early next year.
