Resident Evil fans have voted Leon S. Kennedy as the series’ best character in a new poll.
As reported by TheGamer, a poll was conducted by the Japanese media outlet Famitsu in which the star of Resident Evil 2, RE4 and RE6 came out on top as fans' favourite character from the series. According to the poll, Leon S. Kennedy placed first, Jill Valentine placed second and Chris Redfield placed in third. Personally, Jill Valentine always has a special place in my heart, followed by Leon S. Kennedy.

What’s more, fans also voted for Albert Wester in first place as the ‘most detestable character’, followed by Nicholai Ginovaef and the Licker in second and third place, respectively. Elsewhere in the poll, the original Resident Evil was the first game played by most people, while the scariest game in the series award went to RE7: Biohazard. In case you’re wondering, Ada Wong was in fourth place as the ‘favourite character’, followed by Claire Redfield, Albert Wesker, Ethan Winters, Rebecca Chambers, Piers Nivans and Hunk.
Furthermore, Famitsu asked followers what was the ‘scariest scene’ and the 'most surprising scene'. Village's baby monster ranked as the scariest scene, followed by RE1's first zombie encounter, and RE7's Mia attack. In terms of surprising scenes, RE1's hallway jump scare won, with RE2 remake's tyrant encounter and Village's reveal of Ethan's identity following in second and third place. I find it difficult to debate against that baby scene from Village, though I’m surprised that the first Regenerator encounter from RE4 or even the Crimson Zombie from the 2002 GameCube remake didn't make the top three.
For me, the original Resident Evil 2 of 1998 will always be my favourite game from the series, followed by the GameCube remake. That being said, the results of this article are totally subjective to the individual and I think we could chat about Resident Evil all day. Sadly, there was no love for Resident Evil Code: Veronica, despite fans being desperate for Capcom to develop a remake. Make it happen, Capcom!
