We’re in a complete and utter drought when it comes to Red Dead Redemption. Considering it’s one of the most acclaimed gaming franchises of all time, Rockstar Games are in no rush to announce a new RDR project, whether that be a remake or a new instalment.
Admittedly, the original Red Dead Redemption does still hold up relatively well today but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t benefit from a few improvements. Just take a look at The Last of Us Part I. If you can only play the original, no problem, but you’ll definitely have an enhanced experience with the new-gen remake. Fans have been campaigning for a RDR remake for quite some time, with some even attempting to remake the game in Unreal Engine 5 themselves. There’s one aspect of a potential remake fans are agreed on though.
Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.
Fans took to Reddit in agreement that a Red Dead Redemption remake should be created in RDR 2’s engine. User unknownstatus99 wrote, “I wish Rockstar added Mexico or at least gave us an RDR1 remake on this engine because this is too fun.” Plenty agreed with the user. Pattern_Is_Movement added, “You’re right and it would be profitable,” while ulterakillz noted that RDR2’s engine offers loads of improved mechanics.
They wrote, “Horse riding and shooting are great and everyone love’s Liars Dice. [RDR2] is definitely overall better.” DWhiting132 also agreed, saying, “I just want Rockstar to remake RDR1 using the RDR2 engine.” Well, we don’t know if it’ll ever happen but surely Rockstar are cooking up something RDR related. It feels like a matter of when, not if.
Advert
After the success of HBO’s The Last of Us series, fans would love to see Red Dead Redemption get the adaptation treatment. One user suggested that it would be cool to explore Arthur and John’s youth. I’d like to see that.
