Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered to be one of the greatest and most influential games of all time - and it's now been cited as an influence for Starfield.
Following the recent Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, we were treated to a glorious 45-minute deep dive into the upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield, and it certainly did not disappoint. During the Starfield Direct, we were given a mere glimpse of how massive this game will be.
Take a look at Starfield in action below.
Not only will it feature New Atlantis, the largest city that Bethesda has ever created, but Starfield also promises to have over 1,000 planets to explore. What’s more, it features a branching storyline, NPC companions that will join your team, tight FPS gameplay, dogfight battles in space, and so much more. Starfield is already considered to be somewhat of an Elder Scrolls and Fallout in space, but it is also inspired by Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and that’s coming directly from Bethesda chief Todd Howard.

Speaking to IGN, Howard stated that in terms of being immersed in a world, the sci-fi RPG has some similarities to Red Dead Redemption 2 in relation to living a fantasy life. Well, if you are going to be inspired to create an immersive universe, you can do a lot worse than Rockstar Games’ wonderfully crafted wild-west world.
Speaking of Todd Howard, the Bethesda chief also claims that The Elder Scrolls VI may be his last game. In related Starfield news, NPCs will call you by your actual name and the game will be locked at 30fps on Xbox Series X|S. What’s more, fans have had their minds blown at the vast graphical improvements made to the game following its delay of a year.
Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
