Red Dead Redemption 2 player manages wild 'alternate ending', no mods needed

Well, that escalated quickly

A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has found an alternate way to finish off one of the game’s missions and it involves killing off an important character.

Posting over on Reddit, Doctorstrange5775 explained that they’d finished off a mission called 'Revenge is a Dish Best Eaten' in chapter four by killing Dutch.

PC players can finally get their hands on Red Dead Redemption officially as it was recently released alongside its DLC.

They explained that, by using no mods at all, they simply killed the character by firing dynamite arrows at him.

They theorised you could do the same to Bill and John too, which another member then demonstrated.

Apparently, this is possible whenever a character breaks you out of jail and, as they start to ride off on their horse, you can bombard them with explosives to kill them.

This doesn’t impact the following missions as the characters respawn as the original poster explained, “When you go to the mission they respawn immediately but they are completely burned. But it gives you failed because you attacked the captain of the boat.”

This discovery led users to ask if Dutch could be looted once dead and it was confirmed, “Yes they only have a few dollars and some ammo. You can't pick their hats I guess.”

That’s one way to finish the mission.

This is something that should be possible with any NPC as long as they aren’t within a safe zone like a camp.

Apparently people just like seeing Dutch die or struggle as another user chimed in with another anecdote, “In the previous mission, 'Country Pursuits', you can let Dutch get eaten by the giant gator by not shooting it when it's coming for the boat (it's a fail screen but still enjoyable)”.

It’s amazing that a game like Red Dead Redemption 2, which has been out for several years, can still surprise players. It’s a testament to the detail Rockstar Games puts into its titles.
