I’ve said this a thousand times at this point, and yet it always bears repeating; Red Dead Redemption 2 has one of the most underrated modding communities.
Some of the stuff out there for Rockstar Games’ RDR2 is mind-blowing to me, because I can’t imagine this is a particularly easy game to mod.
One person managed to add purchasable properties to the game. Another added a unique “Duel” mechanic. Someone even released a mod that just lets you work as a full-time bartender for Pete's sake.

And yet, somehow, the mod I’ve got for you today might just blow all over the other Red Dead Redemption 2 mods we’ve gotten so far out of the water.
The "Mexico Expansion Project" is a follow-up to the "Neuvo Paraiso-Mexico" mod that came out in late 2023, and with its release, I can finally say what I wish I could have said back in 2018 when Red Dead Redemption 2 first dropped.
Folks, we can finally, truly explore a living, breathing Mexico.
The original Neuvo Paraiso-Mexico mod is incredible in its own right, as it managed to add a lot of the towns from the original Red Dead Redemption into the game, along with NPCs to help populate them.

However, it was self-admittedly unfinished. No shame in that, considering the size of the task at hand.
The Mexico Expansion Project, by mod author DRixus724, is hoping to finish what the original mod started, and it looks so good I'm legit reinstalling RDR2 right now just to try it out.
The new mod adds working trains, gang hideouts, several new bridges to help connect parts of the map together, new camps, and even a tunnel for the trains to go through.
This is alongside improvements to the existing towns and NPCs found in the original Neuvo Paraiso-Mexico mod.

If you’re not convinced though, check out this video from the mod’s author DRixus724 detailing all of the additions.
