The Wild West can be a very lonely place. I mean, I'm assuming this to be the case, having never actually visited. I'm 30 years old and can't currently travel through time, so I just kind of have to gauge the vibe.
Playing Red Dead Redemption 2 is as close as I'll probably ever get, but that's pretty damn close. And exploring the huge open world Rockstar Games made for us can get lonely. Much of the time it's just you and your horse, and whenever you do stumble across another soul, there's at least a 50 percent chance they're going to try and shoot you in the face.
Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!
The good news is that you can finally take a friend out on the road with you in Red Dead Redemption 2, thanks to an awesome mod that integrates a companion system not unlike the kind you'd find in Skyrim or Fallout 4.

With this mod, you can recruit any one of the following companions: Javier, John, Bill, Hosea, Kieran, Sean, Charles, Lenny, Micah, Uncle, and Sadie. Why you'd want Micah with you is beyond me, but I guess you could take him out to the middle of nowhere and torture him for a bit.
To have one of these characters join up with you, all you have to do is approach them at camp and press the recruit prompt. Your buddy will ride around with you, help you out in combat, relax in your camp, and even fish with you.
You can even give them specific orders, so if you don't want them to jump into the middle of a fight and start taking all the kills for themselves, you can have them hang back while you do your thing.
It's a seriously neat little mod that makes like in the old west that much less lonely. Be sure to get it downloaded if you fancy a new kind of experience in Red Dead Redemption 2.
