Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game that keeps on giving, thanks to its huge open world and cast of unforgettable characters.
As much as we can all probably agree Arthur Morgan is a better protagonist than John Marston, it was still a treat to see the star of the original Red Dead Redemption play such a huge role in the prequel. The epilogue, in particular, is a real treat that manages to open up what was already a massive game even further.
If you've done everything there is to possibly do in Red Dead Redemption 2, to the point that you've even seen the super secret ending, you might be left scratching your head wondering how you can possibly go play anything else.

Fortunately, there's a mod for that. Isn't there always? Courtesy of kazyllis on Nexus Mods, the mod Becoming John Marston brings 10 ten brand-new short that allow players to “travel back in time to play through some of John’s core memories from his teenage years”.
The missions help tell the story of how John came to join the Van der Linde gang, and span the course of two years between 1884-1886 when the outlaw was just 11-13 years old. Naturally, the mod includes a new teenage model for John, as it would be slightly jarring to play through a prequel in which an 11-year-old child is quite clearly pushing 30.
It really is a fantastic little mod that uses what breadcrumbs Rockstar has already given us about Marston's past to create something fresh.
Since Red Dead Redemption 3 is clearly going to be a while, you might as well dive into this prequel and experience a new - if unofficial - story. With pretty much everyone at Rockstar currently working their butts off on Grand Theft Auto 6, it'll be a while before our proper return to the old west.
