If time does indeed flow like sand, it appears that time to develop the remake of time bending classic Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time is flowing straight through the hands of publisher Ubisoft.
The remake was first announced 10 September 2020, with a confirmed release date of 21 January 2021, much to the delight of fans. The keen-eyed readers will have noticed that January 2021 occurred over a year ago, and yet here we are very much The Sands Of Time remake-less. This is because soon after the announcement, fans were quick to let Ubisoft know that the quality of the remake did not meet their expectations. Just two months after the game was revealed, it was delayed until March 2021.
If you missed out on - or more likely forgot about - the The Sands Of Time remake trailer, you can catch up in the video below.

If those keen-eyed fellows are still with us, they will also have noticed that it’s also been more than a year since March 2021. That’s because in February 2021, Ubisoft decided to change the release from March to “next year”, meaning of course 2022. The next and final update we got from the team was in October 2021, where pretty much all the news we got was “it’s still happening”.
Yesterday (3 May), we finally got a bit of concrete information as to what exactly is going on. The project was originally being developed by two of Ubisoft’s Indian studios, Mumbai and Pune. In this latest update it revealed that the development would be moving to Canada, specifically Ubisoft Montréal, which created the original game.
We also got a new release date. Instead of the vague window of 2022, we’ve now been given the even vaguer window of “when it’s ready” to look forward to. Seems like everything is going according to plan then.
