A pretty simple Pokémon TCG Pocket deck just destroyed a 200-person tournament by mostly just abusing one very specific Pokémon, and players are flabbergasted at how consistent it is.
Thank you in advance to Dexerto's Raissa Jerez for the original source!
In a thread on the r/PTCGP subreddit titled “Anyone see this winner of an almost 200 person tournament?”, players shared their reactions to a deck that topped a tournament over on play.limitlesstcg.com.

So it seems that, based on the player’s comments, this deck is taking advantage of a very specific mechanic in the game.
Pokémon TCG Pocket ensures that you’ll always have one basic Pokémon in your opening hand, so by simply playing one Pokémon and no others, this deck ensures that you’ll always have exactly the ‘Mon you want from the start.
Because EX Pachirisu gets a pretty hefty buff once attached with a Tool card, the deck is trying to maximise the chances that one of the Tools will be in your opening hand (by playing multiple types) alongside cards like Poké Ball and Potion (to add a second EX Pachirisu to your hand and to heal whichever one you currently have on the board).
Over in the thread on r/PTCGP, players shared their experiences using the deck for themselves.

“I used this with gio for my 50 wins, basically the most consistent a deck could be,” commented user iplayfortnitebadly.
“I played this with Gio instead of red card, and it was pretty fun. It’s very strong when going 2nd,” replied user FlashDavin.
It’s not all positive, however. While some have debated the consistency of the deck, others are mostly just not happy with how the deck takes advantage of the game mechanic that always puts one Pokémon in your opening hand.
Unfortunately though, that’s not how TCG games work. If a deck is good and consistent, it’ll see play, regardless of how boring or “unfair” it might seem to play against.

This is coming from a Yu-Gi-Oh player. Trust me, I’ve played against enough Stun decks to know that, no matter how boring a deck is to pilot, players will always be drawn to decks that win.
