Starfield looks set to be one of the biggest games of the year (quite literally), but unfortunately for PS5 gamers, it will not be coming to Sony’s console.
However, while Bethesda’s Starfield isn't coming to the PlayStation 5, due to it being a Microsoft-owned property, there is an answer for gamers exclusive to the blue brand. The answer comes in the form of the upcoming Baldur’s Gate III.

We know Baldur's Gate III isn't a sci-fi RPG, but it does share a similarity given the fact that it’s a massive fantasy RPG that promises around 200 hours to finish its story. That being said, while Baldur’s Gate III isn't a complete exclusive, it will be a timed exclusive on Sony’s console. Still, it means that PlayStation 5 gamers can enjoy the fruits of its labour while Xbox gamers enjoy Starfield.

Baldur’s Gate III is out now on PC and is being met with high critical acclaim with scores as high as 95 from critics and 9.2 from users on Metacritic. PlayStation 5 owners only have a short wait for its arrival next month. During that time, Baldur’s Gate III has become a best-selling pre-order on PS5.
In a tweet by Benji-Sales, a curator of all things video game sales related, Baldur’s Gate III currently sits behind EA Sports Madden 24 as the most pre-ordered game on PS5 at the time of writing in the US. I’ve just checked the UK PSN store, and Baldur’s Gate III is also in second place, beaten by another EA Sports title, EA Sports FC.

Sure, there is no doubt that fans will be disappointed that Starfield won’t be coming to PlayStation 5 (though it nearly did), but at least some can take solace in the fact that Baldur’s Gate III is a fantastic alternative.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Baldur’s Gate III will be coming to the green brand at some point, but following technical limitations of the Xbox Series S, the highly anticipated RPG has suffered a major delay.
Baldur’s Gate III is out now on PC and arrives for PlayStation 5 on 6 September 2023, which just so happens to be the same release date as Starfield.
