PlayStation nabs exclusivity for a major 2024 sequel, claims an industry insider.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary in 2022, SEGA and Atlus announced that it was finally bringing the Persona series to Xbox for the very first time.
Up until 2022, this beloved JRPG series has primarily remained on PlayStation consoles, as well as some later entries coming to Nintendo Switch. That was until the series came to Xbox, and a new legion of fans was able to see what all the fuss was about.
So with this series now essentially being multiformat, surely Persona would follow in the footsteps of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series and would at least launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles simultaneously, right? Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.

As reported by Video Gamer, industry insider Nate the Hate claimed on a recent podcast, that Persona 6 will reportedly be a PlayStation 5 time-exclusive in 2024. This of course means that PC and Xbox players won’t be able to experience the game during its initial launch.
However, it was also claimed that Xbox is pushing to ensure that Persona 6 releases on the green brand, sooner, rather than later. So it is possible that the timed-exclusivity period on PS5 might be at least shortened.
What’s more, the insider claimed that the PlayStation 4 will be left behind with the next entry in Altus' JRPG series, making it a new-gen title only. That kind of makes sense, because, at some point, last-gen consoles will have to be left behind.
Nate also claimed that other Atlus and SEGA multiformat projects are in the works, which could include a remake of Persona 3 as well as another Persona 5 spin-off, reportedly set to release in 2024. Furthermore, he also stated that the Persona 3 remake will be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase this June.

Of course, it’s always worth keeping in mind that all rumours and speculation should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, hopefully, Atlus and SEGA will reveal it all in the coming weeks/months
