HBO's 'The Last Of Us' First-Look Teased For This Weekend

We could be getting our very first look at HBO's live-action The Last Of Us this weekend, if a recent tease from PlayStation is anything to go by.

Filming on the series kicked off in Calgary, Canada last month. But apart from the odd leaked set picture here and there, we haven't seen anything official from the upcoming adaptation of Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed PlayStation game. It's looking like that might just be about to change, however.

As you may know, September 26 marks The Last Of Us Day (which was previously known as Outbreak Day before COVID-19 happened). In the world of The Last Of Us, September 26, 2013 is the day the Cordyceps virus completely and utterly took over. So of course we choose to... celebrate it. Idk, gamers are weird.

PlayStation tends to mark this special day with a bunch of new merch and special discounts, most of which have already been outlined over on the PlayStation Blog. But as an intriguing aside, the company added that it will be revealing some "all-new content" this Sunday at 5pm UK time.

This wouldn't be the first time that PlayStation has used this day to unveil something new for fans, and it's entirely likely that this year, that something new will be a first look at the live-action series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. I'd imagine it'll more likely be a first-look image of the pair in action rather than a full trailer given how early on into production the series still is, but we'll have to wait and see.

Of course there's also a chance that this new content could be our first official glimpse of the long-rumoured multiplayer spinoff for The Last Of Us Part II. Naughty Dog confirmed last year that it'd be releasing a standalone multiplayer game, and recent datamining efforts have uncovered evidence of some kind of battle royale set in the game's universe.

Whatever happens, The Last Of Us fans will want to tune in at 5pm this Sunday.
