It is freebie time, my dudes. The start of the month means one thing and one thing alone for PlayStation users - a bunch more new games to get stuck into.
February was a very solid month for those subscribed to PlayStation Plus - those paying for Essential tier and higher were able to claim OlliOlli World, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Evil Dead: The Game and the Destiny 2: Beyond Light DLC. Even more excitingly, for those subscribed to the Extra and Premium tiers, one of last year’s Game of the Year contenders, Horizon Forbidden West, was added to the game library, alongside The Quarry, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, and many others.
Take a look at the trailer for Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC, Burning Shores, below.
Anyway, as of today (7 March), PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to claim three new Essential tier games - once you’ve grabbed them, you’ll be able to play them at any time as long as you have an active PS Plus subscription. This month, the games are Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons, and Code Vein.

How you feel about that lineup is entirely up to you, but I’m sure that Battlefield 2042’s inclusion will raise a few eyebrows. EA’s 2021 FPS was incredibly buggy when it first launched, and prominent insider Tom Henderson previously claimed that it was released missing loads of planned content, such as earthquakes, fire tornadoes and volcanic eruptions.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Battlefield 2042 has received plenty of updates since its dodgy launch, and Fallout 76, a game with a similar reputation, ended up being received surprisingly well when it was offered to PS Plus Essential subscribers back in January. Maybe this could be what the game needs to give its player base a boost?
PS Plus subscribers have until 3 April to add March’s Essential tier offerings to their library, so don’t miss out.
