PlayStation gamers can get their grubby little hands on two essential PlayStation exclusives now in the form of Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel Horizon Forbidden West.
Released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Horizon Zero Dawn was perhaps slightly overshadowed by The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. Despite being a brilliant game with a gripping story and a gorgeous open world, it perhaps didn't take as many risks as it could have, leaving Zelda to deliver the superior open-world experience.
Incredibly, the exact same thing managed to happen again when Elden Ring eclipsed Horizon Forbidden West in 2022. I can't wait to see what genre-defining video game releases when the third Horizon game drops.

Anyway, both games are fantastic and worth checking out. Heck, even if you find yourself a little bored by Forbidden West I promise you'll be blown away by its incredible graphics on PlayStation 5.
The good news is both games are currently free to download and play as part of PlayStation Plus Extra. Provided you have a subscription, you can hop into the game library and get both games added.
While PlayStation Plus Extra obviously isn't free, you can get a seven-day free trial, which would give you plenty of time to tear through at least one of the games. I'd recommend starting with Zero Dawn, obviously, or you'll be completely lost in Forbidden West.
Certainly, given there are 16 more Horizon projects in the works at the time of writing, it would make sense for you to get caught up now before Sony drowns us in various spinoffs, tv series, sequels, and comics. The franchise train stops for no man, and you don't want to get left behind, do you? Actually maybe you do, I don't know your life. I'm just here to tell you about the free games.
