Well, this is something I didn’t expect to see this morning. A brand new PlayStation 5 advert seemingly contains footage of what fans are convinced is a new Uncharted game - and it’s a convincing theory.
The reason that I didn’t expect this news is mainly due to the fact that just the other day, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann confirmed that the studio is done with Uncharted. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Druckmann explained, "For us, Uncharted was insanely successful. Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games - and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on." Naughty Dog may be moving on, but it doesn’t look like Sony is ready to. A new Uncharted game could be in the works at another studio, if this latest PS5 trailer is anything to go by.
Check out the trailer below. Can you spot the suspected Uncharted footage?
Sony has dropped a brand new ‘Live From PS5’ trailer to celebrate the fact that the PS5 drought is well and truly over. The trailer showcases a number of familiar upcoming games. There’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, in addition to old favourites like Returnal, Stray, and God of War Ragnarök. Nestled amidst these though is an outlier.

Partway through the trailer, we see footage of a young woman blowing dust off an old relic in a cave (thanks GamesRadar’s Leon Hurley). It’s the only clip in the trailer that seemingly doesn’t relate to any known project and fans are convinced it’s Cassie, Nathan Drake’s daughter, who may be getting her own Uncharted spin-off. Yes, Naughty Dog are done with Uncharted but it’s been rumoured for quite some time that perhaps another studio is working on the franchise.
Bend Studio’s name has been thrown around. The first-party developer hasn’t released anything since 2019’s Days Gone but they’re obviously cooking up something. Let’s not forget that Bend also has history with the Uncharted franchise. The studio created Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita. Hm, good tease Sony. We’re itching to know more.
