You have to admit, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have done pretty well.
We’re approaching the fifth anniversaries of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year, and previous-gen consoles are just about hanging on to their relevance.
We’re definitely seeing less games opt to launch on previous-gen consoles than we did a few years ago, but the consoles aren’t totally obsolete.

Of course, their relevance is going to be challenged even further in coming years.
Sony has already announced that from January 2026, it’ll heavily be reducing the number of PlayStation 4 games it adds to PlayStation Plus.
As for the Xbox One, well, it doesn’t appear that it has much more than one big exclusive left in it.
Microsoft is largely ignoring the Xbox One, with recent titles like Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle optying to skip the console.

In a new report, however, it’s suggested that Call of Duty 2025 will launch on previous-gen consoles.
You can take a look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in action below, ahead of its PlayStation launch this spring.
This news comes courtesy of a report by CharlieIntel which claims that Call of Duty 2025 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This comes in spite of the site’s speculation that Warzone doesn’t have “two big maps at the same time” because of the limitations of previous-gen systems, leading many to wonder whether it’s just simply time to let previous-gen consoles go.
The tidbit was corroborated by Insider Gaming sources.
We should hear more about the next Call of Duty this summer which is typically when the project is unveiled ahead of a fall release.
It’s supposedly another Black Ops game, this time being a direct sequel to 2012’s Black Ops 2.

Insiders claim that it’ll be set in the early 2030s, but there’s very little else we know - if this is even true.
It would be the first time we’ve had two back-to-back Black Ops games, but I’m not against that.
Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye on the game’s development updates, bringing those to you when they arise.
