There’s nothing more frustrating than desperately wanting to play a hit release only for it not to launch on your preferred console.
Even more so when the game in question is “delayed indefinitely”.
This is the reality that Xbox gamers are having to live in right now due to Black Myth: Wukong not releasing on Xbox.

What makes this situation more distressing for these would-be players is the fact that it was only a matter of days ago that Microsoft confirmed the game was launching on its platform.

Unfortunately, that confirmation didn’t say anything about it being this year.

When the Xbox logo disappeared from Black Myth: Wukong’s marketing material earlier this summer, fans feared it wouldn’t come out on the console at all.
Microsoft squashed those worries by saying it was coming, yet the worries persist now that there’s an indefinite delay.
Although the developers nor Microsoft have explained why the delay has happened, speculation places the blame on the Xbox Series S and its lesser capabilities.
Despite this being the most logical reason, it doesn't make the situation any less maddening for fans.

Considering that the game has become the most played single-player experience on Steam, it’s understandable that those forced to miss out are unhappy.
“Xbox Series S was a mistake that Microsoft will never recover from,” posted one Twitter user.
While we bear no grudges against the smaller Xbox console, nobody can deny it’s a trouble maker when it comes to launching larger games.
Most notable before this being the delay that Baldur’s Gate 3 fans had to endure.

Eventually it was sorted out, but the wait was still agonising.
“What bad luck for those who want to try the game on Xbox [...] There is always some game that causes some problem,” remarked another social media user.
PlayStation players have noticed issues during their playthroughs as well, further lending credence to a lack of memory being the underlying problem.
Redditor LeonSigmaKennedy said, “[I’m] playing on PS5 and noticing that if I leave the game running for a long time, the performance starts to dip, and I get bad stuttering.”

With this “memory leak” issue hounding the game, it’s anyone’s guess when the problem will be corrected, and Xbox players can enjoy the hit 2024 game.
