Xbox drops free download for one of 2024's biggest RPGs

You can play this RPG early

One of this year's most highly anticipated RPGs has dropped on the Xbox store, so that you can download and play it for free today nice and early, albeit via a few hoops.

2024 has already been a banger of the year gracing us with the likes of Astro Bot, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to name a few with the prospect of things only getting better as we head towards 2025.

Check out the Metaphor: ReFantazio trailer below!

One game that will be on the radar of many still to come this year is the JRPG published by SEGA and developed by Studio Zero, none other than Metaphor: ReFantazio. If you are one of the many excited to play this game when it launches next month, you can play it for free right now.

In our hands-on preview of Metaphor: ReFantazio, we said it: “pulls from classic fantasy RPG adventures to create something wholly original. I’d start booking some time off now, because this game is going to dominate our lives going forward.”

However, as reported by XboxEra, if you want to play Metaphor: ReFantazio today, there is a catch. At the time of writing, the demo for this upcoming JRPG is not available via Steam or PlayStation nor the Xbox store, well, at least in the West.

Right now, you can download the prologue of Metaphor: ReFantazio via the Korean Xbox store. To play the demo now, you will have to change your region in the console settings under ‘Language & Location’.

What’s more, with this demo being a prologue all your progress will carry over into the full game if you make the purchase. Hopefully, this prologue will be available to download officially in other regions within the coming days.

Metaphor: ReFantazio releases on 11 October for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
