Xbox fans are understandably angry this week after Microsoft revealed its changes to the Xbox Rewards programme.
As part of the Microsoft Rewards programme, Xbox users have been able to earn free store credit by simply playing games, completing Quests, making purchases and more.

By completing these challenges, players would earn reward points which, in turn, could be exchanged for free store credit.

As a result, many Xbox users over the years have been able to get the latest game releases for no extra cost by hoarding their reward points.
However, Microsoft threw a spanner in the works this week after it announced it would be making some changes to the rewards programme.
According to a post on the official Rewards website, there are going to be changes to the Weekly Console Bonus.
Up until now, Xbox users could earn 250 points (275 points for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members) if they played on their console five or more days a week.

However, for members in the U.K., this is set to drop to 150 points per Weekly Console Bonus.
As you can expect, that 125 point loss has fans feeling furious.
“Man, they've absolutely gutted Rewards over the past year, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore,” said one user over on r/xbox.
Another said: “Seriously, what's the point in rewards anymore? They’re killing it off like they did with Games with Gold.”

With the Rewards system gradually getting worse over recent years, one user shares their disappointment with the service: “Here it's been pretty bad for years now. Before 2020, [I'd] get like 8K points a month or so. Now it's just 2K a month if I'm lucky. The rewards system isn't worth it anymore.”
With many Xbox users threatening to stop using the Rewards programme, it remains to be seen what steps Microsoft will take next.
