Halo 2, the legendary Xbox game that also had one of the best multiplayer modes ever has returned and fans are losing it.
Halo: Combat Evolved launched in 2001 and it was the game that put Microsoft’s debut console on the map. Offering a legendary campaign as the Master Chief and multiplayer modes that have given millions of gamers fond memories, it’s no wonder this game is considered an all-time classic.

In terms of multiplayer, Halo: Combat Evolved was incredible but at the time of its launch, the Xbox console wasn't playable online. However, when Halo 2 arrived in 2004, online multiplayer was already in full swing and for many, this was their first soiree competing with others across the world.

We may not have realised it at the time, but Halo 2 online multiplayer was truly something special and can perhaps be considered one of the console pioneers of what we take for granted today.
Over 20 years have passed since the launch of Halo 2, and while the most recent entry, Halo Infinite isn't viewed as the most popular game, its creative Forge mode is a great tool for bringing some of the old school into this modern era.
As such, right now in Halo Infinite, thanks to Forge mode, players can enjoy a Halo 2 multiplayer playlist, perfect for veteran fans and for those that never experienced the originals from 2004.
“Halo Infinite | Great Journey (Halo 2 playlist with old school gameplay modification, third-person firefight, new ranked maps and more),” said Redditor zrkillerbush, sharing the good news with fellow members on the thread.

“I can appreciate 343 Industries /Halo Studios’ commitment to updating this game despite having a fairly low player count,” said FriedCammalleri23. “As a player since launch, I certainly am happy about it.”
“The most important 343 ever did was deliver a great version of Forge which has basically allowed them to let the community or outside studios make all the new content,” replied StrngBrew.
“Halo Infinite is the only game I didn't delete since I picked up an Xbox Series X,” islandnstuff revealed. “Such a great game and people don't accept what Halo Infinite offers, which is super sad.”
Halo Infinite is out now on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Its multiplayer is free-to-play for all.
