Xbox reportedly wants Bethesda to make a new Fallout game sooner rather than later, which sounds nice but best not get our hopes up.
To be fair it’s not exactly a surprise considering the Fallout series seems to be at an all-time peak right now thanks to the live-action TV series.

Clearly Xbox wants to capitalise on that as much as possible, especially since it owns Bethesda along with its various studios and IPs.

According to a recent episode of the Xbox Two Podcast, Jez Corden stated that Xbox is aware of the demand for a new game, and sees a problem in Bethesda still finishing work on Starfield and then releasing The Elder Scrolls VI. This is pushing Fallout 5’s release date further and further away.
It’s now speculated by fans that the company is seriously considering taking Fallout 5 away from Bethesda and giving it to another studio, which could actually be a great idea considering the last time that happened, Obsidian Entertainment gave us Fallout: New Vegas.
This obviously needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as no official announcements have been made at the time of writing.
That being said, with Fallout TV series already getting a second season, and the playerbase on games like Fallout 4 skyrocketing it’d make perfect sense to speed up development of the next mainline game.

Hopefully this doesn’t run the risk of another Fallout 76 scenario, where the game is far too big to meet expectations with such a rushed development cycle.
In the meantime Bethesda fans will likely be looking forward to news on The Elder Scrolls VI, with many predicting some sort of reveal or tease during a Summer Xbox showcase event.
