A 2020 game from Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft has seen a major boost in player numbers since becoming available for free via Game Pass.
As we get ready for the launch of the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows later this week, another Ubisoft offering has been getting a lot of love on Xbox Game Pass.

Following a series of delays to give the game a lot of extra polish, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is just days away from launching and for the first time in the series, we’ll be visiting Feudal Japan, a location that fans have longed for.

However, if you’re unable to get Assassin’s Creed Shadows at launch and want a game with a huge and vibrant open world to keep you busy, then look no further than Watch Dogs: Legion.
As brought to our attention by ComicBook, Watch Dogs: Legion has seen a boost in player numbers with its recent inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. At the time of writing, it’s one of the most popular games right now with Microsoft’s subscription service.
“Build resistance from virtually anyone you see as you hack, infiltrate, and fight to take back a near-future London that is facing its downfall. Welcome to the Resistance,” reads the description of the game. “Recruit and play as anyone in the city. Everyone you see has a unique backstory, personality, and skill set.”
“Hack armed drones, deploy spider bots, and take down enemies using an Augmented Reality Cloak. Explore a massive urban open world featuring London’s many iconic landmarks and fun side activities. Take the resistance one step further and fight with your friends in new missions in Online mode.”

Watch Dogs: Legion perhaps wasn't as well received as Ubisoft may have wanted at launch, despite featuring a stunning and accurate location of a dystopian London.
A reason for Watch Dogs: Legion not being as successful as it could have been (other than its launch bugs) may have a lot to do with it releasing just a month before Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which overshadowed its counterpart.
That being said, if you subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass Standard tiers, now could be the perfect time to check out (or revisit) Watch Dogs: Legion.
Watch Dogs: Legion is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
