Nightdive Studios has officially announced a current-gen remaster of Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion, and it's releasing later this year.
Released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion is a first-person shooter that follows dual protagonists Joseph and Danielle Fireseed.
Take a look at the trailer for Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion below.
Joseph and Danielle are tasked with defeating the antagonist Oblivion, who was also the villain of the second game Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. This makes Turok 3 a direct sequel to the second game, which saw Joseph and Danielle’s brother, Joshua Fireseed, attempt to stop Oblivion, before presumably meeting their demise at the end of the game’s story.

Features of the remaster include 4K 120fps visuals on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC, advanced rendering features, remastered art, optional motion/gyro controls for Switch and Gamepad rumble, plus trophies/achievements. The remaster will also utilise the latest version of the KEX engine, granting better renders, advanced graphical fidelity and other improvements.
Nightdive Studios' director of business development, Larry Kuperman, spoke about the announcement in a press release. They said: “The Turok series is one of the classic touchstones of gaming and being able to provide the newest and improved version of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is a great feeling … It makes full use of the latest version of our KEX engine, and we’re excited to share the game with players later this year.”
Nightdive also worked on the remastered versions of Turok, and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, both of which are available on current-gen platforms and boast similar graphical and gameplay improvements.
The Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion remaster will officially release on 14 November later this year. It will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
