If you’re a Legend of Zelda fan looking for something new to play, then you might want to check out this free Steam download.
It can be a challenge to answer the question, “Which is the best Legend of Zelda game?”
Depending on the day, I could answer with A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild, all of which would be legitimate answers.

However, as much as I love The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that stamina bar when attempting to climb mountains can be a pain in the backside. Which is why one of my first in-game actions will be to upgrade the stamina bar as much and as quickly as possible.
That being said, despite being somewhat annoying at times, that’s not to say that rock climbing in Breath of the Wild as well as its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom isn't fun, because it most certainly can be.

So, if you’d like a game that can replicate the rock climbing of Breath of the Wild but in a more realistic simulator format, perhaps with a hint of Death Stranding, then the game Cairn might be for you which has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” review rating.
“Reach a summit never climbed before in this survival-climber from the creators of Furi and Haven,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Climb anywhere and plan your route carefully, managing pitons and resources to survive unforgiving Mount Kami. Discover what Aava is willing to sacrifice to achieve the ascent of a lifetime.”
Currently scheduled to be released sometime in 2025, if you want to check out Cairn right now, then you can download its free playable demo via Steam.
At the time of writing, Cairn is only listed to be released on PC but if it proves to be a success, hopefully, we might eventually see a release on PlayStation and Xbox. We’ll have our fingers crossed.
