If you are a fan of zombie apocalypses and beat’em ups then you are in luck as one action roguelike has become free to play courtesy of Steam.
Released back in 2019 and now free to play for the first time on Steam’s PC storefront, Infected Shelter is an indie action roguelike available for both single and multiplayer.

Developed by Dark Blue Games, this ultra-violent post-apocalyptic beat’em up title is randomly generated so that every run is completely new.

Not only that but with 170 different blueprints to collect, you can unlock new weapons, clothes, skills, relics and RPG-like character improvements to add to that replayability.
As for the story, it’s a bit of a wild one.
“You play as a member of a surviving group in a post-apocalyptic world,” the official synopsis reads.
“On one fateful morning, you awake to find the shelter is raided and your people are kidnapped for reasons unknown. Leaving your shelter you emerge into the harsh infected land and start looking for the kidnappers and the truth behind the events."

"Your path leads you through randomly generated post-apocalyptic areas controlled by different enemy factions with brutal leaders and shelters occupied by infected creatures," it continues.
Gameplay in Infected Shelter consists of fast-paced, violent and complex brawler-like combat where you can switch between firearms and melee weapons to beat your enemies.
With 200+ areas and shelters, four different playable characters, 50+ brutal executions and “tons of guitars, wheelchairs, pets, drinks and active items”, Infected Shelter is one wild ride.
So much so that it currently sits as a “very positive rating” on Steam.

One positive review reads: “Satisfying roguelike beat em up. I'll go as far as to call this an underappreciated hidden gem."
It continues, "If you love beat’em ups and roguelikes, this game is meant specially for you. Infested Shelter is a very very cheap game (now free!) but does good in terms of gameplay enjoyment.”
