Sometimes I find myself waking up in the morning with an enormous hunger for a really good farming sim to get stuck into. I also wake up with this tight, panicky feeling in my chest that usually goes away after five minutes, but that's really more for my therapist to deal with than you guys.
I've played my share of farming sims since falling in love with Stardew Valley many moons again, though none have come close. I recently had a blast with Eastward's Octopia expansion, but that's a much smaller add-on that delivers a smaller teaser. What if I want something meatier?
New farming sim Oriental Valley looks like it could be the next big agricultural time-gobbler, and it's currently completely free to download and check out on Steam.

Developed by Chinese studio 猫多游戏, Oriental Valley looks a lot like a 3D Stardew Valley. As the name suggests, however, there's a big focus on eastern culture, which helps it to stand apart from the other thousands of farming games on Steam.
Similar to Stardew Valley, you'll farm, make friends, build a home, and, in the words of the developer "live a happy life". It looks pretty cute, and while there's still no solid release date, Oriental Valley is definitely worth checking out while the demo remains available.
If farming games aren't really your thing, there are still hundreds of other titles you can check out right now as part of Steam Next Fest. Whether you're after the next big RPG or something much smaller, there's plenty to choose from - though you should be aware you only have until 12 February to try out the available demos.
With so little time left, why not take a look at our rundown of the 10 Steam Next Fest games you should play while you still can?
