You up to anything fun this weekend? Got any big plans? If not, do you fancy absolutely scaring the pants off yourself and playing one of the scariest upcoming games of 2025 on Steam for free?
KARMA: The Dark World is a first-person horror game from developer POLLARD STUDIO LLC and publisher Wired Productions that I’ve been excited to play ever since I watched Will Borger’s preview of the game back in January.
The devs describe KARMA: The Dark World as a “first-person cinematic psychological thriller set in a dystopian world”, but I think “What Remains of Edith Finch if it was absolutely bloody terrifying” is more of an apt description.

You play as Daniel McGovern, who operates as a "Roam Agent" for the Thought Bureau in the year 1984. Your job is to break into people's minds and investigate the crimes of accused suspects, whose offennces are of an unsurprisingly graphic nature.
You mind-jack yourself into their brains and report your findings back to the Thought Bureau once you’re done, a dystopian government board who– wait a tic, why have I heard this all before?
If you hadn’t already guessed it, you probably weren’t paying too much attention during English class at schoo,l because KARMA: The Dark World is clearly taking a page or two out of George Orwell’s 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four - with some light Stephen King influences peppered in for good measure.
If you fancy giving this one a go prior to its March 27 release date then you can give the demo on Steam a try right now.

Trust me when I say that this one isn’t for the faint-hearted though. Un-draw your curtains and turn the lights on while you play if you’re the type to get scared easily, because KARMA: The Dark World, just like its protagonist, will get in your head if you let it.
