In Hogwarts Legacy, you’re tasked with putting a stop to a powerful form of ancient magic. In Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll fight an array of foes using a multitude of high tech weapons. If you throw both of those aspects into a mixing pot, you’ll end up with Defenders of the Omniverse.
Developed by Babushka Entertainment, Defenders of the Omniverse is an upcoming roguelite. Set between various branching realities, the game will task you with facing off against a variety of creatures and monsters in order to, you guessed it, defend the omniverse. Aesthetically, Defenders of the Omniverse takes its inspiration from 80s Saturday morning cartoons - and it’s clear to see. There’s a definite He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Thundercats energy about the game.
Take a look at Defenders of the Universe in action below.
The aim of the game is to take down the “vile hordes of the Dark Wizard Umbros”. That could pique the interest of Wizarding World fans. If Cyberpunk 2077 is more your jam, enemy types include “radioactive wasteland cyborg orcs” and “metal-skinned space vikings”. Already, this game sounds truly wild.

You’ll be able to play as several different heroes, each boasting their own unique Ultimate Ability. Given that the game remains in the late stages of development, character specifics are not yet available. We do know though that you’ll be able to pick from a varied weapon line-up. What perhaps most caught my eye is the fact that Umbros, the evil Dark Wizard, has random abilities that change each time you meet him. This is one boss fight you won’t be able to prepare for via practice.
As I mentioned, Defenders of the Omniverse remains in development, but a free demo is available to download and enjoy now on Steam. That way, it’s oh so very simple to give this indie delight a whirl before the full release lands further down the road. You’ve got nothing to lose.
