If you’re a fan of Harry Potter or Hogwarts Legacy, you may want to check out the delightful new indie Magicraft for another spellbinding fix.
Fans of Hogwarts Legacy are desperately awaiting news of a sequel or expansion. It’s bound to happen given Hogwarts Legacy’s immense commercial success. The thing is, we do have the Nintendo Switch version of the game finally on the horizon, so I’m imagining devs are looking to see that through first. Hogwarts Legacy will officially be released on Nintendo Switch on 14 November - and we’ve already had our first look at its gameplay. Considering what a sizable game Hogwarts Legacy is, the Switch gameplay has left us feeling pleasantly surprised. As I mentioned though, many Hogwarts Legacy fans will likely be looking for a fresh fix of magic, and Magicraft looks very fun indeed.

Developed by Wave Game and published by bilibili, Magicraft is a roguelike that “uses a variety of spells to match unimaginable spell effects,” whilst also featuring a “construction of ultra-high degrees of freedom [that] cannot even be exhausted by developers.” The best news is that a demo is available right now, and it’s completely free to try. The full game will then be released on 2 November.

The synopsis reads, “The game takes the world invaded by ancient gods as the core, creating an aerial magical fantasy world. The player will be a brave man who strays into this world and pulls out the legendary staff, crusades against monsters, combines unique spells, defeats the ancient gods, and saves the world invaded by the ancient gods!”
Magicraft boasts a delightful painting style of animation, a wide array of spell and staff combinations, several enchanting locations, and fun puzzle solving. I’ll certainly be giving it a go. The playable character even somewhat resembles Harry himself.
