It's fun, it's fast, and also looks creepy as hell

When worlds collide, story-driven adrenaline-fuelled experiences like this are created.

A new open-world shooter is almost ready to be released on Steam, and with its arrival comes a new atmospheric and “immersive” tale.

Decadent follows the story of John Lorn, a man who, having served in the war, has turned his attention to matters of the occult. As you do.

When dealing with supernatural forces, the route to salvation is never easy. Even more so when a traumatic accident leaves Lorn infected with a”mysterious parasite”.

“As your courage and sanity are pushed to the limit, you must learn to walk the line between good and evil and discover just how much grief and suffering you are ready to cause to save someone you hold dear.”

Lorn's story is one filled with hardships in Decadent – can you handle it?

There’s a lot going on in Lorn’s world, which is arguably why Decadent feels like a crossover between Far Cry and Bloodborne.

It has the brooding, gothic visuals and tone of FromSoftware’s iconic title, yet it has the fast-paced gun slinging that we’re accustomed to seeing in Far Cry.

There’s also a touch of BioShock thrown into the mix for good measure.

The end result, at least from what we’ve seen via trailers, looks promising.

“Man am I so hyped at waiting for a game that doesn't even show gameplay, oh boy!” commented YouTube user @RacingSaph.

Whether they mean this sarcastically or not, the trailer does a fantastic job of reeling you in, even though it shows “no real gameplay” according to interested gamers.

Still, the proof is in the pudding.

Despite its Steam page saying “coming soon”, the developer has given no hint as to when that’ll be.

We hope it’s sooner rather than later, but creating such visceral gameplay as promised in Decadent takes time.

Hopefully, its macabre beauty will be worth the wait.
