Two of the best open-world adventure games that instantly come to mind are the mighty Elden Ring and the wonderful Breath of the Wild. So when a game arrives that blends a little bit of both, you can bet that it’s piqued our interest.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released in 2017 for the Nintendo Wii U and Switch and instantly became an all-time classic, garnering a score of 97 on Metacritic earning the ‘Must-Play’ accolade. Its 2023 sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, came in at a close second, receiving a score of 96 making it one of the best video games of that year.

As for Elden Ring, that was one of the best games to be released in 2022, as well as being an all-time great, of course. In our review of Elden Ring, we said: “Elden Ring is a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

The game in question that blends Elden Ring and Breath of the Wild is the upcoming indie title Chasing the Unseen, developed and published by Strange Shift Studio. Chasing the Unseen is described as a casual, action-adventure and it looks like it could be a lot of fun, despite the creepy giant Octopus.
“Chasing the Unseen is a single-player adventure game focused on exploring abstract worlds and climbing colossal creatures,” reads the description on the Steam store. “It features mysterious and beautiful environments as well as giant creatures you will encounter along the way. These massive creatures offer exciting gameplay sequences. Walk and climb on them and use your little parachute to help you out when you fall.”
Chasing the Unseen is coming to PC on 7 March this year. What’s more, you can download and play its free playable demo via Steam ahead of its launch. Happy days!
